When we look our best, we feel our best. I believe that beauty starts from within, so by putting the best quality in, as well as on your body you can achieve excellence. As an experienced personal stylist and nutrition consultant, my mission is to help you feel and look your best, from the inside out. I created Mooi to bring together my passions of fashion and nutrition and my consulting services embody my 4 core philosophies around both.
After completing a diploma in Fashion Marketing and Merchandising with a focus on personal styling in 2015, I started working with Nordstrom as a personal stylist. The value of the quality rather than the quantity of a wardrobe was something that became clear to me very quickly. Now, as an experienced stylist with almost a decade in the fashion industry, I put focus on buying the best you can afford and making the most out of your wardrobe.
During my years as a stylist, I have noticed an equally strong connection between what we put on our bodies and what we put in our bodies, and how it makes us feel. Both clothes and nutrients, if they are the right “fit” can help us feel and be more confident. Besides fashion, my other passion has always been health and wellness, so in 2020 I went back to school to get certified in holistic nutrition. I had the hope that I could bring my core beliefs around wardrobing, into the world of nutrition as well, and just like that, Mooi was born.
Mooi Philosophies
Quality over quantity.
We live in a consumer society, where the notion is always wanting and needing more. But I am here to tell you that the quality of the items you both wear and consume, is much more important than their quantity. If we buy better pieces and eat better nutrients, they will sustain us and our planet, for much longer. I put focus on investing in and building my clients the foundation of a timeless wardrobe along with putting real whole food nutrients in their fridges and pantries, to support not just our environment but well-being too.
We are what we eat.
You’ve probably heard this saying before, but did you know that we are also what we digest, absorb, and metabolize? I dig deeper with my clients to uncover underlying health imbalances that may be impacting their nutritional status. In my unique blend of wardrobe styling and nutrition consulting, I will help you to build the strongest foundation for not just health, but happiness. We are reflections of what we consume, so let’s make sure you are getting the best quality nutrients to reflect the most beautiful you.
Less is more.
A key focus of mine when wardrobing is the notion that less is really more. I am a firm believer in having less, better quality products- be that in the food you are eating or the clothes you are wearing. Whether I am building a minimalist wardrobe or teaching clients how to breathe new life into the pieces already in their closets, it always feels good when less can truly become more. This also goes for food, I want to see less processed, less packaged foods, less ingredients (most of which you don’t recognize), less fillers and additives. I want to see more real, good quality whole foods. I aim to instil the “less is more” principle into all my clients lives.
Food for thought, literally.
One of my personal and professional passions lies in the area of mental health. Not just because of my own journey but also because of the countless number of women I know who battle with body dysmorphia and the struggle that can come with having a poor body image. Did you know, that the foods we consume directly affect our thoughts and feelings? The good news is that nutrition can help. Through my unique services, at the same time that I am styling a client to look their best on the outside, I can also target their mental and physical health through customized, evidence based nutrition and lifestyle approaches.
